As if it’s poured fresh from the tank at the brewery. Just like traditional German Kellerbiers, this lager is unfiltered. Brewed with torrified wheat, Callista hops and dry hopped with Spalt Select, it’s left hazy, hoppy, full bodied and fuss free.
STYLE: Unfiltered Lager.
HOPS: Perle, Callista, Spalt Select.
YEAST: Bavarian Lager Yeast.
MALT: Pilsner, Torrified Wheat, Munich.

Can. Hazy straw with a thickish frothy head.
Smells of flowering grass and mild citrus hops with some distant malt.
Balanced flavour reflecting the smell. Subdued bitter finish.
Sparkling feel with a light body.
A rather nice flavoursome lager.

Today was the first time I've noticed this one for sale, so I thought I better give it a try.
L- Pale straw with a mild haze. Pours into my usual nucleated glass with a 15mm big-bubble white head. ps 15mins later, some foam lingers, forms lacing on the way down too...
S- A light citrus note on the nose.
T- Hmmm ... that might have been a grapefruit note right on the front. Later that ebbs into a broad very light citrus-spectrum note.
F- It's quite low CO2 in the mouth, that's one thing I'd expect to find in an authentic Kellerbier, plus sediment in the pour FWIW, but I can't say I've ever had a Kellerbier with a citrus note.
O- I'm not really into major citrus notes in beer. It reminds me of the late '80s when it was fashionable for a time to serve Mexican bottled lager (Corono, Dos Equis etc) with a wedge of lemon jammed in it's neck. All very Miami Vice perhaps but frankly revolting: Those beers were bad enough but that serving was never going to improve things. ... I digress! ... I can see this as being pleasant on a hot summers day, it would be refreshing. The citrus is subtle, it's not your typical hipster citrus hop-hammer. I would drink it again, sitting in the garden on a summer's day...
BB: 1/Apr/2022 330ml can, bought from a Waitrose in London, reduced from £2'ish to £1.45. #2043

330ml can. This won’t be matured in open vats, so it’s not a true kellerbier, but it’s a step up from your average euro pale lager. Nicely hazy with arcs of lacing. Smooth mouthfeel with light carbonation. Pleasing, lemony flavour profile. Very refreshing on this warm, late September afternoon.
