550ml bottle 4,5% abv
Served chilled in a Tulip wine Glass
Appearance: Pours a lovely orange gold with a good sized, creamy white head that lasts pretty well and leaves some nice lace.
Smell: Mmmmm, it’s been a while since I have smelled a good bitter – biscuity malt base with touches of slightly nutty caramel. Followed by floral, slightly fruity (hint of berries) English hops (which I have to admit, when used properly, are some of my favorite!).
Taste: Flavour is not quite as good as the smell, but still one of the better bitters I have had. As with the smell, biscuity malt forms a base with floral, lightly earthy hop finish. I am very happy to find a bitter that actually has a bitter hop finish – wonderful!
Mouthfeel: Just under medium bodied, with perfect, mild carbonation.
Overall: Great local beer from (in my opinion) the best South African Micro! Can’t wait to have a fresh bottle at the brewery!
