All Natural Pale Ale

Standard 341 ml brown bottle.
Dark gold color, inch of bright white head. Foam leaves thin trail of lace. Pours clear light gold color. Pure smell of hops, citrus/pink grapefruit. Strong hoppy flavor, but still balanced by some maltiness. A slight bit of pine aftertaste in the finish. Smooth and clean finish, a little crispness left lingering. Overall, is a toned down version of their Hophead IPA. Very drinkable, good interpretation of the style.

Kelowna's All Natural poured with a perfect size of head, off-white with some very large bubbles, despite a creamy surface. The beer is copper coloured in the truest sense of the word, along with some dark honey and fleeting red or rust. Very clear, and very solid looking in the glass. The lacing is a little irregular, but when it does stick it leaves thick islands of foam. Classic English hop in the nose, creamy malt, butter and raisins, and a good deal of toffee. The hopping gives notes of herbal tea and earth. A well balanced smell, the hops and malt combining very well to give some interesting notes. The malt edges out the hops by a mite, which is to my liking. The aroma is complex and is equal to(or even better than) many respectable English pale ales. The taste is hoppier than I expected judging by the aroma. Nice creamy buttery flavour on the front, reminding me of raisin pie; the middle starts detecting the substantial hop flavour, and by the finish this is almost all bitter resins. Green tea, dry leaves, and pine flavours. The finish is dry like burnt toast; the malt, still there, but extremely subdued. A little watery in the mouth; medium bodied. It could use some thickening. For my personal drinkability, this was overhopped for the style it claims to be(that is, an English pale ale), and the dryness seemed a bit much for me to drink this regularly; the finish shows less balance than many British pale ales. If the taste were identical to the aroma, I would love this beer.

Hey, why hasn't anyone from B.C. reviewed this yet? Anyways, we are lucky to now have this available in Alberta once again.

Pours out a crisp, clear light amber hue, a decent pure white cap of foam at first that lingers for a minute or so. Very appetizing aroma if you like your hops, smooth citrus and grapefruit rind encompassing a slight malt profile. Big kick of hops at first, they mellow out in the middle, where some mild malt finally joins the party on the finish. A piney, herbal aftertaste. As it warms the malt becomes more apparent in the middle, but the initial taste is always dominated by hops, the balance definitely tips strongly in that direction, there is hardly any real malt to hold its own ground. Smooth mouthfeel, even a little crisp on the finish, this is a decent specimen of the style. I still prefer Tree's Hophead IPA to their Pale Ale, but it makes a decent sessional on its own. Worth picking up again.
