330 ml bottle into tulip glass, batch L1503. Listed at 5.5%. Pours slightly hazy deep ruby red, light copper/brown color with a 2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of tart/sour lemon, lime, cherry, raspberry, cranberry, raisin, plum, fig, date, green apple, fruit skin, red grape, sherry, toasted oak, hay, straw, herbal, grass, caramel, brown sugar, toasted brown bread, and balsamic vinegar; with lighter notes of nuttiness, pepper, vanilla, leathery/musty funk, and yeast/oak earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, oak barrels, and dark/bready malt notes; with solid strength. A bit strong on the vinegar in the aromas, but not bad. Taste of big tart/sour lemon, lime, cherry, raspberry, cranberry, raisin, plum, fig, date, green apple, fruit skin, red grape, sherry, toasted oak, hay, straw, herbal, grass, caramel, brown sugar, and toasted brown bread; with lighter notes of nuttiness, pepper, vanilla, leathery/musty funk, balsamic vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Light-moderate lactic tartness and yeast/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/sour lemon, lime, cherry, raspberry, cranberry, raisin, plum, fig, date, green apple, fruit skin, red grape, sherry, toasted oak, hay, straw, herbal, grass, caramel, brown sugar, toasted brown bread, nuttiness, pepper, leathery/musty funk, balsamic vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, oak barrels, and dark/bready malt flavors; with a nice malt/tart/sour/spiciness balance, and zero puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from tartness and yeast/oak spiciness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, bready/grainy, and acidic/tannic/tangy balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.5%. Overall this is a very good Flanders Oud Bruin style. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, oak barrels, and dark/bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink; with the modestly lactic/tannic/drying finish. This one came off a little more balsamic than I would have preferred. Been a while since I had one with the character. Really well balanced fruity/funky Brett, Lacto, oak, and dark/bready malts. A very enjoyable offering, and well made style example otherwise.

Sour ale met kersen, smaakt ook een beetje wijnachtig, niet zo mijn ding.
