Visited late on a Sunday near closing time. A few regulars at the bar enjoying their last beers. Got a flight. Good variety. Very good service. Enjoyed and will return.

Not that big of a place, but nice atmosphere. Located near industrial buildings. Overall pretty good beer.

Drove up to Ventura for the afternoon and this place was a must-stop. Very unassuming from the outside, as it is located in an office-park area. Walking inside, they have a nice little homebrew shop to the right. As I am not a homebrewer myself, I will not review this portion of the shop. The rest of the place is dedicated to the taproom. A good number of tables fill the rest of the space, along with a decent bar that could seat about 15-20 people. The decor is a little bland, but they definitely stick well with the surfer theme. They don't serve any food, but they offered some light snacks. I did see some locals bring in some food from outside, and it looked like that was encouraged by the staff, so that's a nice feature. They had most of their lineup on tap (all except the Wit), including a cask of their Black IPA. I tried a couple of their standard brews, the Vienna Lager and their Nitro-Porter. The bartendress was very friendly and helpful. A couple of the guys I was with, got their flight of 4 brews, and all that they tried they enjoyed. Prices are decent, and the beer was good from what I had. I would revisit for sure if in the area.

Atmosphere - Large space in unit that is a mix of a commercial office space & industrial park. Quite a large tasting room, with the brewing equipment in the back, wall art (and some pretty good wall art too) as well as Home brewing supply shop up front. Even the area near the restrooms was cozy, clean, with more art. Large tasting bar, and several tables, including some picnic tables inside. They also had some mounted flat screens with sports on too.

Quality - Well, presentation wise, cool snifter tasting glass, in a wood painted mini surf board. However, sadly have to ding a lot here. The reason was something was off on the beers in terms of carbonation, as in over carbonated. (with the excepation of the Nitro Porter) They all seemed to have way to much Co2 in the solution, and both my wife and I noticed it. It was as if it was two thirds beer, and then one third soda water. The reason I know it was the draft system, and not the beers, is I just had 4 of their beers a week prior at Wades wines tasting room, and had the surf south swell at instant replay the week before that. All were noticeable better at both establishments, then the tasting room, so I hope it's just something quality control can fix on the draft system, since it made the beers taste average or watered down, and I happen to know they are not.

Service - Service was fine, as they had two people working the taps, and it was an early Saturday afternoon, and not too busy. They also quickly offered up a local take out folder, and we had appetizers from across the street delivered. (good food)

Selection - 9 beers on draft, with 3 different options as far as tasting flights (set of 4, 6, or 9) A bit heavy on the Pale ale, IPA, DIPA, Black IPA's, but they did have a porter, and a pilsner. I hope they start to make a brown ale, stout, and some others, but they haven't been open long, so I suppose they focused on Summer Surf beers ( fitting of course) and ones with lower fermentation times, so they can bring in some sales, so I plan to continue to check them out.

Value - Market average in terms of both taster/flight cost, glasses, and growlers. The space is also pretty nice, and ordering food to have with the beers makes for a comfortable experience.

Overall - I'll likely check them out again at some point, since they are only about 45 minutes away, though I may just seek their beers around LA, since they are certainly showing up.

I've been anticipating the grand opening of this place for a couple of months now and they didnt disappoint.

The brewery is located in an industrial area and it doesnt look like much from the outside but it gets better once you open the door. The decore is surfer themed with a pier painted on the wall and local artists paintings hanging too.
On the right is their homebrew section, Im not a home brewer but they have a variety of grains, extracts and other stuff you would need to get started. There are several picnic benches along the left hand side and a few pub tables just past them. At the bar theres a good number of stools with the beers listed on a chalkboard and you can see all their vats and boilers. At the opening they featured a Rye Pale Ale, Black IPA, Belgian White Ale and a Cream Ale (all available for growler fills).

I thought all the beers were pretty good but the Rye was the best in my opinion. Even with the place super packed the staff was quick and friendly. Since the opening ive been several times and its a great laid back place to have a beer. Not full of beer geeks but if you want to talk beer the staff is more than willing to chat. Im really happy this place opened near my house and its definitely a great place to come if you're in the area, only downfall is they dont serve food but they are cool with people bringing in food and there are delivery menus around the bar.
