A seasonal ale, brewed using imported black malt and dark roasted mountain grown Arabica coffee beans. Storm Coffee Porter is a roasty, dark, top fermented brew with a subtle coffee aroma and pleasantly mild palate.

bartle gave this one to Viggo who was nice enough to share it with me. thanks guys!
12oz bottle. sampled jan 10/2011.
pours clear dark brown with a thin layer of fine dark tan head that quickly disappears and leaves almost no lace.
aroma is okay. dark chocolate. buttery toffee. bit of dms. anise. slightly roasty. bit of coffee. light alcohol. earthy. whole wheat bread.
taste is not great. watery. buttery toffee. faint dark chocolate and bad coffee. slightly burnt white bread. earthy and slightly herbal. low bitterness.
mouthfeel is also not great. thin bodied and watery. very low carbonation. slightly astringent.
drinkability fares no better. the balance isn't great. not only a poor example of a porter, it's not even a very good beer.

A: Black with a slight amber tinge, off-white head, no retention, but a little lace.
S: A little funk (horse & leather); coffee.
T: Sour (probably isn't supposed to be) with a leathery quality. Roasted coffee, and an odd, metallic flavour.
M: Light to moderate body and carbonation.
D: The funkyness is a little rough.
I'm not sure if there's an infection here, or if they intended to have a little Brett character in this brew. It wasn't very carbonated, so it seems like it was bottled in this state?
Thanks for sharing Len!
