Handpump halfpint at the Southampton Arms.
A: Clear ruby-chestnut body with a solid cap of superfine tan foam. Good retention, great lace. Lovely.
S: Lightly roasted malts and some minty hops. Very simple and pleasant.
T: A little caramel, a little fruit, and some lovely toastiness. Delicate bitterness balances with bread crust on the finish. Smooth and very, very tasty.
M: Light-bodied with some moderate, fairly lively carbonation. Very good.
O: Excellent session ale, falling somewhere between a Dark Mild and an ordinary Bitter. Just terrific.
Cheers!
