Dark brown with an amber tinge when held to the light. Very dark, but looks filtered. Topped with ¼ finger of beige head.
Smells of chocolate, pine, and coffee. It reminds me of Black Joe Cake, a mix of chocolate and coffee, with a vanilla sweetness.
Coffee, pine, citrus orange, a hit of bitterness from both burnt toasted malts and the hoppy resinous quality. Really good. The bitterness lingers.
Medium resinous body with little carbonation. Coats the tongue with hop juice.
Found and drank in Chiang Mai Sept 26th, 2015. Picked it up at formerly Hobbs, now known as Beer Lab. Been a while since I’ve had the style so I am pumped about it.
