Pours a jet engine black color with some carbonation. Strong coffee notes, along with some vanilla notes off the head. Tastes largely of coffee. Great coffee porter if you love coffee beers. I thought it was a bit bitter for my liking but overall a decent beer.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 3/22/2017. Pours slightly hazy very dark brown color with a 2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a large cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big nutty medium roast coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, and toasted dark bread; with lighter notes of smoke, char, vanilla, herbal, floral, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big nutty medium roast coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, and toasted dark bread; with lighter notes of smoke, char, vanilla, herbal, floral, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate roast/char and herbal/spicy hop bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of nutty coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toasted dark bread, smoke, char, herbal, floral, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great roast/hop bitter/sweet balance; and no acrid/astringent roast or hop flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from hop/char bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, and fairly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6.5%. Overall this is a great American porter style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. Vibrant coffee complexity in great balanced with the base porter. Spot on for the style; not overly roasty, nice hop presence without overdoing it. A very enjoyable offering.

This was a very nice coffee porter that I got from Ohio via a beer trade. It is one of the better coffee porters I’ve had.
Look: black with a nice creamy two-inch mocca head that stays very long.
Aroma: toasted malts and lots of coffee.
Taste: The taste is roasted malts, lots of coffee, and some milk chocolate and vanilla. It is a very nice and smooth creamy porter.
Feel: It’s medium body and relatively easy drinking

My kind of porter. Black as night. Aroma of coffe and chocolate. Not sweet but toasty and bitter. Mouthfeel is abrasive not sticky, slick or oily. Love it.

I am a big fan of this brewer, but I tempered my ratings - I think they might be low if you compared this with other great porters.
It's pretty black in the glass, with fine head and not much sticky lacing. The aroma is a nice mix of roasty smells and a little hops.
The taste is a well balanced coffee flavored porter. It is not too - anything. Just roasty enough. The aftertaste is slightly roasy and bitter, but not overly so.
I will add this to the list of Market Garden brews that I will pick up regularly. We are so lucky to have so many really good brewers in this area. Market Garden is my current favorite (but I really play the field).

Freshest by 3/17/17. 12oz bottle poured into a tulip. Pours almost black with a fluffy tan head that falls leaving great retention and sticky lacing. The aromas are full of roasted black coffee. Lots of roasted malts as well. Subtle hints of chocolate and vanilla. The roasted characteristics really shine. The flavors basically follow the nose. The coffee shines without completely dominating. Hints of milk chocolate and dark chocolate. Solid bitterness with a mild sweetness. It basically finishes dry. Alcohol goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with active carbonation. It's pretty smooth and easy to drink.
This is a really nice coffee porter. It's robust and well crafted. Definitely worth checking out if you like coffee brews.
