Thanks goes out to MastaaaGrillaaa for this brew, from NBS BIF#6

12 oz. Bottle
Bottled On: 11/06/17

Poured a pretty nice slightly hazy dark golden amberish color, pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice thick/creamy one-finger off-white head, which leaves some sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty, with some pumpkin, nutmeg, cinammon, spice. The taste is pretty nice, malty, pumpkin, cinammon, nutmeg, spice. Medium body, ABV hidden pretty well with this one. Overall, a tasty brew. Glad to have gotten a chance to try it.

Growing up on the west side of Cleveland I remember hearing about Franklin Castle. I guess it's still there. It was always an overrated dump but this is a great pumpkin ale.

It pours dark orange with fine bubbles. The aroma is weak pumpkin and a bit of malty alcohol. The taste is not very pumpkin-like (and that's fine) but a very malty ale taste with some hops poking through. The aftertaste is big and bold and somewhat bitter. Pumpkins find their way to your burp. This may not be one you would want to drink several of, but it is one to have again and again.

Recommended.

Freshest by 11/23/16. 12oz bottle poured into a tulip. Pours a very hazy glowing burnt orange; fluffy off-white that falls leaving great retention and nice lacing. The aromas have lots of grains and bread notes. Very subtle hints of cinnamon and ginger. There's also some subtle vanilla and caramel notes in the mix. Some pie crust in the mix. Malts are there. The flavors are very earthy and slightly bitter. Hop bitterness is there. Strong spice bite in the finish. Slightly spicy. Possibly some black pepper in the mix. Lots of grass and even some hints of pine. The different spices blend together and none of them standout, which isn't a bad thing. There's no sweetness at all. Finishes dry. Alcohol goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is on the lighter side of medium-bodied with very active carbonation. It's easy to drink.

This is a solid pumpkin ale, but it's not one that I could personally drink alot of. It's very earthy and bitter. If you like those characteristics in the style then you will love this. It's not bad at all, but it's not my new favorite example of the style. It's well crafted and would hit the spot during the fall weather.
