Brewed from malt the has been slow smoked over beechwood logs, this German lager pours a beautiful, smoldering copper color and comes on with a righteous blast of smoke followed by a twist of oak. Perfect for pairing with smoked dishes fresh off the grill.

The brewer describes this beer as "Brewed from malt the has been slow smoked over beechwood logs, this German lager pours a beautiful, smoldering copper color and comes on with a righteous blast of smoke followed by a twist of oak." This is an accurate description. In Bavaria the Smoke Monster would probably fall midstream between a Schlenkerla Urbock and Helles. In the USA, this beer brewed correctly is very hard to find. After the taster I followed it with a pint and then a 64 oz growler to take home. Not sure about the barrel aged part of the equasion as many of that style I don't care for the bourbon, rum or whisky overtones (prefer splashing a good one on the rocks).
