Rich and spicy. Rather hot with alcohol. Woody taste with some sharp notes. Warm with malt, but more on the spicy side than unctuous. Golden color in the glass, modest head.
Tangy, resiny hop flavors, with some flowery hops in the nose. Prickly mouthfeel. Bitter aftertaste, but a nice balance between malt and hops. A good example of what to do with the big semi-Pilsener style.
On Renegade's website they claim this is 9.7% ABV and "100+ IBUs." Curiously, when I had it on tap at the brewpub, it was listed at 8.5% and 41 BIUs. [From notes on visit July 20, 2012.]

A- light gold with a soft, baby white head. Moderate lacing. Looks clean and tasty!
S- spicy hops and rustic grain in the nose. A touch of booze. Decent.
T- taste is big bitterness and moderate cereal grain with noble hops and a hint of booze in the finish.
O- this could be less bitter and more hop flavor forward. Overall good and different but not great. Could use minor tweaking for the next go round.
