First of all, being from out of town, it was nice to see this place was easy to find!!
It is a bit nautical in here, but not too cheesy. The bar is rather cozy and people were very friendly. I met three people from the UK in there, and I thought that was a pretty good sign. They have a fairly decent single malt selection as well, which is nice to see.
They were rather vegetarian friendly, which is a plus for me, because I could eat there as well. The food was decent, but I only got the veggie samosas.
I know they used to brew their own, and now contract brew, but I must say, the Lohin's ESB brewed by Howe Sound really was pretty darn tasty!! I tried the Benal IPA and found it pretty decent, but not as great as the ESB. It was definitely leaning toward the Brittish style rather than a west coast style. I tried the Grizzly Brown and was pretty impressed, especially considering this is not typically one of my favorite styles. It was pretty nutty, as it should be. It did try the wit, and it was light, but had a nice spicy finish to it. They also offer some beers not from Howe Sound, which are not as great. Stick with the ones contracted to Howe Sound. By the way, I heard the reason they no longer brew there is because it was not well enough supported by the locals, and became too expensive. I only wish I had gotten here when they did brew on site, since I am sure it would have been top notch.

A great nautical themed brewpub that resides in a boring looking dental-office style building. Brass and wood compliment the many paintings of old ships and naval memoribilia. It didn't help that a bunch of cadets from the Pacific Marine Teaching Centre showed up (which follows on the heels of Canadian Navy personnel at Steamworks), The view out to Vancouver is great and the place feels like a local. Always delighted to see football...err, soccer on the TV.
Beer selection is decent with a good mix of their own brews (I believe done by Howe Sound), BC micros, on-tap and bottled imports and major Canadian players. (They had Boddingtons on tap but I refused to try it since production moved to Luton).
Food selection is fair, but somewhat limited to standard pub fare. Pricing is reasonable and reflects market value.
My compliments to the staff for doing a bang up job. The place was quite busy for lunch and they managed with one waitress, one bartender and one cook. They even had the cook and bartender waiting tables if needed. Bravo.

MY GOD! I owe an apology to someone on one of the forums, Sailor Hagars has gone "contract brew", that right, they no longer make their beer... and it shows, I was their a couple of weeks back and the beer did not stack up.... SO what you see below has now changed....
The look is brass and wood pub kit, located in a nondescript offce building very near the Lonsdale sea bus terminal.
THe beer is great. The IPA and Marzen are great, I even like their Wit and I am usually not a fan. Well worth taking the seabus from downtown Vancouver (check out Steamworks brewpub next door to the ferry terminal on the Vancouver side.)
Up in my top three Canadian brewpubs for the quality of their beer.
