What do the holidays bring us each year? Great times with friends and delicious deserts full of chocolate, caramel, and spice. Heretic’s Dead Santa is a dark, rich porter with big notes of chocolate and caramel. We then infuse it with our own mix of holiday spices, a perfect holiday treat for enjoying by the fire with friends.

Draft at the Taphouse. Heavy on the winter / holiday spice, both aroma and taste. Too much perhaps. Fruitcake. Any porter base gets obliterated..Perhaps too late in the season.

Out-of-season but on-tap in Nampa ID, and I can only drink so many hazy IPA’s. Served in a nonic;
A: Brown with amber/gold showing on the edges, khaki head and minimal lacing.
S: Holiday spices, caramel, bready malt, inviting (to me).
T: Impressions of roasty chocolate malt, faint smokyness, underlying holiday spice (nutmeg, cinnamon, etc) is start-to-finish but never overwhelming; blends well in my opinion.
MF: Creamy and smooth; pleasant lighter body for 7%.
O: I enjoyed this one for a holiday porter; there are other similar brews out there but this is executed just fine.

Nice pour at PreFunk.... Foamy tannish head, good retention and lacing... All about the cinnamon and perhaps some nutmeg... Dry dark malt with some residual sweetness that is magnified by the sweet spices.. A hit of caramel with warmth. Well done Christmas brew for sure, just a little late reaching my post Xmas goblet.
