Served in a cask at Market Beer Company in San Jose, California in a 16oz pint glass. Tap takeover, a few employees were there hanging out. When I asked for this the first response I got was "good choice". Good choice it was.
A: Black, mild carbonation from the cask but very little. Nice light brown lacing that there was. Small amounts of light around the edges, but largely a very dark beer.
S: Coffee hits you hard initially. Followed by dark chocolate, vanilla and roasted malts. Not aggressive in smell, but nice and rich. It's like fresh cold coffee with some chocolate and spices.
T: Smooth bitterness of iced coffee upfront, transitions very quickly to dark chocolate and a hint of roasty malts. Beautiful balance of bittersweet with roasty flavors and bits of sweetness. Strong coffee/chocolate aftertaste.
M: Medium bodied. It's cask aged so minimal carbonation, which works for this beer really well. Aftertaste lingers for minutes after each sip.
O: Amazing. Totally floored by this one. I love beers with a strong coffee presence and this one did not disappoint at all. Not an easy one to find, but if you ever get a chance you should try it.
