rather basic stuff for what know about heretic, good to see they can do this kind of thing well too, but this is pretty unexciting as they go, a simple pale ale that has a foot in the modern with a cool dry hop profile on it that hits juicy and bright, but also a foot in the past a little bit with some fuller malt character to it and some back end bitterness, drinkable and familiar, solid but unremarkable to me really. golden in color, not fully clear, with a nice inch of weightless white head, a little lighter on the carbonation on the palate than it looks in the glass. some grassiness to the nose, some woodsy bitterness heavying it slightly, lightly toasted grain but not sweet there, some minerality, a light bready yeast note, green melon, cereal grains, fairly fresh. the flavor is similar but to me it kind of all hits at once, not that its monotone, but that it doesnt move much, its both malty and hoppy at the same time, balanced then and familiar, with some piney hops, a little bit of west coast dankness, but also soft herbal character, not super intense despite it having some oils to it, never quite as bitter as it smells, off dry with a bit of a linger, again with a little yeast thing to it but not english really at all. fine pale ale, drinkable but not a beer that got me too excited, i am used to a little but more exotic and even risky beer from these guys, this one is anything but, but it tastes good. so much more exciting pale ale to choose from out there, this is well made but seems pedestrian overall.
