Pours nearly black and fairly thick, nearly flat but with some light carbonation struggling to surface. Smells "dry" somehow, prominent vinous notes and noticeable boozy heat. Lots of barrel character on the palate, with a strong sharpness from the high ABV--not abrasive or detrimental, just very different from the trend of aiming to be super smooth with integration of beer and barrel. Bitter baker's chocolate consistent with raw cacao nibs, tannins that dry out the short finish.
