Thanks to Jason for this unheard of beer from an unknown Dutch brewery. Served in a Hill Farmstead glass.
A - A finger of tan foam settles to a thick ring, partial cap, and dark brown body. Minimal lacing is left behind. Seems a bit light for an Imperial Stout.
S - Anise, roasted malts, yeast and bread, some nebulous European fruitiness to it as well.
T - Smoked ham, strange watery and mineral flavors.
M - Somewhat thin, slightly grainy, lower carbonation, and some alcohol heat.
D - Starts out OK, but quickly goes off the rails. Just not a very good beer. I'll avoid Berghoeve for the time being.
