i usually dont love this sort of thing, but this one is exceptional. part of that i think is its lack of sweetness and the fact that its a hoppy before its a fruit beer. i also think the hoppy styles of late have tried to be more fruity, even to the point of being misleading or outright dishonest about added flavorings, i kind of appreciate them just leaning into making a fruited hoppy beer, into it. a nice draft pour with a lot of flavor and freshness, been too long since i had anything new from these guys. pale not ipa is a cool choice too, way cool mix of hops with the fruit, passion fruit, orange, and guava, well selected for this purpose, tropical and even cocktail-esque without being overdone at all. some spice from the hops in aroma and flavor, definite cantaloupe, tangerine to me as much as normal orange, lemon verbena, faint tang from the passion fruit, never sugary, and with enough bitterness to be pale ale anyway. its got a light grain base but isnt all juice, its grounded and balanced. the fruit hits early and the hops are more prominent later so there is nice movement to it as well. fresh and refreshing, unforced, more authentic than a lot of these, and overall really good, like even surprisingly good from a brewery i already really like. it has me feeling the summer vibes for sure!
