A 10 ounce draft pour into a tulip glass then a refill at a tap house.
Look- Black, opaque, medium brown frothy head, below average lacing, slightly below average head retention.
Smell- Roasted malt, chocolate, slight peanut, weak strength of scent.
Taste- Roasted malt, chocolate, slight coffee, mildly boozy, slight peanut, medium strength of flavor.
Feel- Medium body, moderately bitter, average carbonation, mildly mouth warming, mildly creamy.
Overall- Black and opaque with slightly below average head retention and below average lacing. Bouquet was dominated by roasted malt that masked the faint chocolate and peanut notes. Flavor was also dominated by roasted malt with some notes of chocolate and lesser notes of peanut and coffee with mild booziness. Feel was medium body with moderate bitterness and mildly creamy. Overall this beer provided an average drinking experience. It needed more vibrant and dynamic flavors to increase the experience.
