I had this beer on a recent trip to the Brewery in Fredericksburg (first in a sampler, then in a pint-to-go on the sidewalk).
Dark amber color and a bit hazy.
Lots of malt, very rich. The hops were on the spicy and floral side. I'm guessing this must be dry-hopped but I don't really know.
One of the best craftbrews I've had for some time. And based on what the other folks at the bar are drinking, it is one of the most popular of the Brewery's offerings. What makes this beer special is the matching of the aromatic hops with the deep rich malt.
According to the menu the beer is 5.3 ABV but I could swear it was more than that.

This beer seems like a fairly standard craft beer interpretation of the american amber ale style. Admiral is dark amber in color with a light head. The aroma has a nice balance of light hops and malts. The taste is also nicely balanced, no real surprises. Perhaps this tastes just a little more piney than most american ambers. A very good beer, just a style that pops up often and doesn't get me fired up.
