Consumed at the brewery on May 14th, 2012. Noted on the menu as 58 IBUs.
Beer is a dark caramel brown with a very fine, off-white head.
No aroma.
Dark roasted malts up front (if you really try, you can pick out some chocolate) with a lot of resiny, piny hops on the finish. Not much complexity here.
Well carbonated, slightly dry.
Yes, this is a "black IPA" and there are no flaws to speak of. It didn't rock my world, though it didn't ruin my day, either.
