Our "not normal" version of a English Southern Brown ale. More bitter and higher alcohol than a traditional southern brown, but what else would you expect from a Munster-style beer? Dark, a little fruity, and perfect for these colder temperatures.

Late 2014 vintage; drank 2/24/15 @ Bangers and Lace Wicker Park.
Semi-opaque brown appearance.
Tan head; frothy lace.
Dishwater nose.
Medium thick mouthfeel.
Slightly sour caramel flavor; odd. Drinkable but not enjoyable.

Served from tap in a pint glass at Beelow's.
Ducking in before "Focus" to try a new brown in the area. It pours a dark, lightly brackish sienna topped by a finger of sandstone foam. The nose comprises mild toasted cereal, dried maple syrup, light oak, light walnut, very light dark greenery, and plenty of toffee. The taste brings in more of the same, along with some cola. A grassy bite enters near the middle and then proceeds to blend very well with the toast, toffee, and nuts. The body is a light-leaning medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a sorta/kinda drying finish. Overall, a very enjoyable brown, one that certainly doesn't overdo the hoppiness, yet allows a precarious balance to form and thrive. Not bad.
