It's no secret that sour ale and fruit have a ton of affinities for one another. Weaving the intense character of dark cherries into a northern German styled gose is a no brainer for the Three Floyds team.
Deep burgundy and ominously dark, the ale looks like a haze bordeaux but with a creamy white lather to cap. Bursting with fruit aromatics, the nose is chocked full of black cherry, berry, cider wine and with a faint waft of damp burlap. Sweet to taste, the ale opens with a distinct flavor of hard candy and with a cobbler-like maltiness.
As the sweetness slowly dissolves on the middle palate, the fruit flavors take full command. Obvious cherry laden, the juiciness of black cherry juice is supported with green apple, robust red wine, blackcurrant and the jammy taste of apricot and fig. As the taste tightens, its sweetness subsides and the tartness begins to decide the late palate.
Trending sour but only moderately so, the beer's brisk acidity has the finish seeming drier than its creamy upstart. Its light salinity acts to brighten flavors and make the cherry taste seem more rounded while the afterglow of tart cherries is medium length and lightly peppery.

Kegged summer 2015; drank 7/9/15 on draft @ Three Floyd's.
Semi-opaque ruby red appearance.
White/pink head; strong lace.
Wheat & faint cherry notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Tart cherry, candle wax & wheat flavors up front; sweet cherry notes on the finish (which settled on my lips over the course of the session). Interesting & enjoyable.

Had this at the brewery. This beer was a mess. muddled with no flavors standing out. Not very tart and no salt. Not enjoyable

This one is also a little confusing. I really liked the cherry, but I didn't get much salt or coriander. This definitely does not drink like a Gose at all. It really tasted more like a very young kriek to me, but still very good.
