Part 2 in our Pig Destroyer beer series. This one is a lactose IPA. An unsettling and enthralling combination of a massive hop charge with the silky addition of milk sugar.

All I had to say on Jan 19, 2010 was "killer nose"

Heavy citrus of orange and clementine . Good balance with the usual 3 Floyd’s hops. Color is a cloudy golden as you would expect from a heavy Pilsner. The alcohol content makes it rival some of the better double IPA’s

Tasted in a snifter from draft at Emil's Tavern on December 16, 2018. Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a 22 fl oz bottle on January 3, 2019. Brewed with lactose. Silky mouth feel.

Look is a golden honey and poured with 1.5 fingers of off white head.
Aroma is huge orange and tangerine followed by some peppery spice and a touch of floral as well.
Taste follows nose. Big orange and tangerine peel and then some white pepper/floral on the backend. Big hops and the bitterness assert themselves per the usual FFF style.
Feel is crisp and lively. Carb is moderate to high. Lactose adds a slight creamy touch to it as well.
Overall a fine double ipa. Reminds me of Permanent Funeral with a touch of lactose. I’m not the biggest fan of lactose addded to ipas. Especially west coast ipas.

Semi-clear amber-gold with a moderate white head settling to a creamy, uneven bubbly film with peak and valley lacing.
Smell is lightly dank with smoothly, creamy detectable lactose here, but then cat piss comes on strong with some pine and stale biscuit. Not as bad as it sounds but aroma is its worst attribute.
Taste exhibits a sharp but clean bitterness with notes of Triple Sec, all the zests and rinds, and some resin.
The smooth silky body has a crisp but light carbonation and a sort of brightly awakening semi-dry finish.

A - Hazy orange body, slightly muddy, with a short white head and lots of fine bubbled lacing.
S - A big fat wall of tropical fruit, resin, pith and wilder hop notes.
T - Open follows the nose, with fruits out front, a middle introducing more funky and savory hop flavors, a touch of onion and garlic, and a pithy bitter bite in the close.
M - Brisk open, middle weight and a building dryness to finish.
O - Three Floyds knows how to lay on the hops. This big burly fighter is tasty, but can be taxing over time. Still, quite solid.
