Our imperial lactose IPA aged in Old Tom gin barrels. This full-bodied double IPA was aged for several months in once used gin barrels and dry-hopped a second time after barrel-aging. Tasting Notes: A hazy amber ale with notes of dried fruit, graham crackers and brown sugar followed by the lingering notes of botanicals from the barrels.

Appearance - The beer was a murky dark orange color with a few bubbles crowning the glass.
Smell - The nose was emblematic of what gin smells like. There was a sourness yet the hops of the IPA also came through.
Taste - My first thought was the taste being like gin and coconut. There was a definite sourness from the gin, with citric notes coming from the IPA. The IPA had lost its potency from the hops, but there were still citric notes. It was remarkable how smooth this was. There was a little alcohol bite or anything harsh about it.
Mouthfeel - I believe the lactose left a sense of smoothness that laid a nice foundation for the gin notes.
Mouthfeel - This is probably not the sort of thing that Three Floyds is ever going to bottle. But in terms of a “one off”, this was pretty fabulous.
