This massive, warming ale is the third brew from our stone tanks. We used a classic Abbey ale yeast to create spicy esters and phenols like banana, anise and clove to pair with the rich malt and brown sugar notes.

Pours a dark amber-brown. Zero head retention or lacing is a bit disappointing. The Abby ale yeast imparts a wonderful taste of banana, clove, anise. A bit of roasted caramel malts on the finish. More yeasty and malty than bitter or hoppy. On the downside the booziness is slightly overpowering, making this more of a sipper. Overall it tastes great but is a bit unhinged in an interesting way.

Had a very short self pour pint. Very pricey @ $1.16/oz in lil ol Franklin, In. Now to the beer...it poured a dark auburn and clear as a bell. No lacing and even less head. Faint smell of alcohol and a hint of (caramel?) My nose doesn’t work so well. The taste was akin to a religious experience. I was in heaven at the first sip. More caramel, vanilla and some other stuff. A little boozy but not over the top at 10.5 ABV. It’s an investment in richness. La vida loca baby!
