A crisp and refreshing lighter summer offering, this Kolsch-style beer is golden in color, light-bodied and a perfect remedy for hot weather.

Draft at 1839 Taphouse. Poured a crystal clear, straw-yellow color with a small, white head of foam. It left minimal lacing. It smelled of caramel, toffee and floral notes. Sweet bready malt taste with a mild citrus taste and a touch of bitterness.

Clear, golden look; dense carbonation; thick, frothy, white head; sticky patches and strings of foam line the glass. Fine aroma; biscuit-like malt with a touch of honey; trace of esters. The taste has a subdued cracker and bread crust notes; delicate herbal hop bitterness; pear-like sweetness. Medium-light body; crisp mouthfeel; hint of dryness towards the finish.

This must be an older bottle of this beer as the ABV is higher than what is currently indicated on the brewery's web site. That said, this is a decent tasting kölsch. It touches on all the basic kölsch style points although not excelling at any of them except, perhaps, the looks.

ABV: 5.5%; pouring temperature: 46.6 °F; bottling info: n/a

Pale orangish color with a small white head. Head fades quickly. Nose is berrylike, almost grapes. Taste was also berrylike and much like a pilsner. Mild pepper finish.

An episode with two twelve ounce cans emptied entirely into a clear glass liter mug. They were typical lager looking pours, displaying a nearly translucent brightly light golden-amber color. The just-off-white head is moderate and appropriate. For its style, the aroma is a bit faint. There's some adjunct lager character, but not much more. It's no surprise that the taste is also mild, especially upfront. Specifically, it could use a little more malty sweetness. The hop bite is good in a lager-like way; clean and crisp, without being too bitter. With no malt backbone to carry it, that's a good thing. The mouthfeel is nothing special. Almost no glass lacing and no sustaining head are no surprises. At best, this is drinkable, but unremarkable and not worth a craft beer price tag.

Purchased in cold storage.
This was from a variety pack: "PACKED 02/11/25"
From the bottom of the can: "PKGD ON 01/16/25 Q417"

Appearance: It has a medium gold body that is slightly hazy and a bunch of tiny suspended solids. It has a very large eggshell white head that is fluffy and has good head retention. Clumps of lacing.

Aroma: There is a very light herbal hop aroma that is just barely there. A very faint aroma of sweet corn.

Taste: Up front there is a light bit of herbal hop flavor. The flavors stay herbal on the middle of the palate and it picks up a bit of mint towards the end. A light bit of bubblegum flavor and cedar wood in the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: Light bodied and dry with a light bit of harshness from hop bitterness that comes through a bit rough because of how dry it is.

Overall: As a whole it's a pretty good beer. It is a bit more hop-forward with more bitterness than the average Kölsch but the overall experience while drinking the beer is nice. It works pretty well in a variety pack because it's a beer I could have one or two of but it's not something I'm likely to buy a six-pack of. I could drink it again from time to time. I would recommend giving it a shot if you don't mind something that is a bit more forward in hops.
