Look - black and thick with a nice dark tan head and nice rimming and slight lacing
Smell - slight cognac with some chocolate and toasted coconut
Taste - first taste I get is the chocolate followed by the strawberry then some nice toasted coconut with a nice cognac to finish it off
Feel- thick and creamy with a light carb
Overall - a little sweet but still a fantastic variant

Pours black with a finger of khaki foam. Aroma is chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla bean, each hitting at a near perfect third of the total nose. Behind these rich notes sits molasses, roasty & toasty malts, and barrel. Barrel melts into the background, allowing the initial three notes to shine, with strawberry popping thru the loudest. Flavor profile pushes the same trio - strawberry, vanilla bean, and chocolate. It comes across thick and full, without being overly sweet. I'd be reluctant to consider it a pastry stout due to the well balanced nature of the flavor additions, which remain well integrated within the fines of the stout notes - roasty and toasty malts, and barrel. Mouth feel is thick, with a velvety, full texture. Overall, just sublime. Big time flavor addition notes that refrain from every becoming too strong or sweet. "wow" as written in the notes.

Served from a 750mL bottle. Reviewed from notes.

Appearance - The beer poured a deep back color with with a dark mocha head lightly crowning the pour.

Smell - In the nose, strawberries and sweet chocolate were noted. The booze was mellow, but also noted.

Taste - This beer was something special. I would not say it was Neapolitan ice cream as some have said, but it was definitely desert. Amid the Dark Lord backbone, strawberries were noted with light coconut and chocolate. The cognac aging added a special dry grape presence that fit better than I would have imagined. In the finish, there seemed to be a bit of spice with the cognac.

Mouthfeel - The beer was thick, almost good enough to tar the driveway. It clung to the sides of the glass.

Overall - This beer was definitely hype worthy.

Chewy beer with great aroma. Heavy strawberry and chocolate taste and notes. Incredible beer. Best Neapolitan-esque Russian Imperial I've had.

Coffee colored foam that lasts longer than regular DL 2020. So much chocolate and strawberry. Finish is so smooth for 15%abv. Vanilla and coconut underlay the chocolate and strawberry as the beer warms. Chewiness stays throughout duration of hour + session with this bottle. Fantastic beer. I have two more I'm looking forward to sharing with friends this Holiday season! Cheers!!

Used motor oil black with a fine tan film stretched taut across the surface to a thin chain that remains throughout the session, but that's the extent of it.

Quite sweet and viscous, I'm getting more strawberry this time around than I did from the 2019 port version. At the same time, it's surprisingly tangy and spicy, as sticky molasses meets a prickly yet drying cognac heat on the swallow. It then exhales mild hints of coconut, which are propped up by a touch of barrel vanillin, leaving a light stickiness on the lip. Over time, it actually develops a sort of Heath Bar character to it.

The strawberry brings a brightening accent to Dark Lord, while the cognac adds some assertiveness. It's about as harebrained an experience as its label represents it to be, so in that sense, it's quite successful.
