This is a bellicose beer for the thirsty sophist. A bright and welcoming pale ale brewed by Jonathan Cutler of Pierce Brewery and Three Floyds. Not since Hall and Oates has this level of unity and cohesion been attempted. You’re welcome.

On tap @ the Three Floyds Brewpub (Munster, IN) on 4/24/10 during Dark Lord Day. Served in a pint glass.

Pours a fairly clear gold in the glass, a rich looking finger of bright-white head. This retains with a thin, yet creamy layer, which slathers the sides of the glass with foamy richness. The aroma is grassy and citric smelling, with some bright and tart fruit flavor coming out towards the front. Herbal notes are pushing their way to the forefront as well, while pale malts give this a bready cushion underneath for those fresh hops to sit on.

The taste has a moderately sharp hop bite up front, that spreads a steady spicy feel across the tongue. Fruity citrus mixes with the sweetness of the underlying bready malts to impart a fresh and tangy feel to the flavor. Earth and dryness linger in the finish. The mouthfeel is lighter-medium bodied and crisp in the mouth, but is for the most part pretty smooth and silky feeling going down the throat. Just an easy drinking Pale Ale here that doesn't feel heavy on the palate at all for 6%.

Malt and hops are in perfect harmony here, giving this a well balanced flavor, crisp yet easy feel, and a great sessionable nature. I'd like to see 3Floyds & Piece collaborate again, as this was some tasty stuff!
