This spent motor oil black liquid stains the glass brown with a tilt after the short dark tan head dies to a fine chain.
First sniff brings the classic dark fruit, chocolate and molasses of Dark Lord, but the second exhibits an unctuous cinnamon not unlike Brown Sugar Cinnamon Pop Tarts.
Taste too exudes more cinnamon than I expected, certainly more than the original Lounge, drawing a uniquely cutting contrast that plays amazingly well with the sweet, chocolatey and roasty base in a much different way than it does in ChemTrailMix. It's also worth noting in yet another review of a DL variant that, in a stout world chock full of viscous glop, this is all delivered by a more drinkably silky medium-full body with a subtly fine carbonation.
I was hoping for more mezcal influence, because I love that shit, but it's not so prominent. Instead, a tingly guajillo heat lingers in the gullet long after the swallow, without imparting any actual flavor, helping to provide a strikingly clean, dry swallow.
Absolutely incredible, and even better than the 2018 release.
