A categorically big Double IPA brewed to honor our little friends and their clandestine meetings. Intensely bitter with notes of citrus, grapefruit and orange marmalade.

Clear, golden color. Big, off-white head. Resin, malt, and grapefruit in the aroma. Stong hoppy bitterness balanced by the malty base. Not their best, but still good.

Pkgd on 05/26/23. Poured from a 16 oz. can into a Samuel Smith Imperial pint glass. 2/12 finger off white long lasting head, semi-lucid golden honey in color with loads of lacing and good carbonation. Toasted malt aromas are present as well as tangerine, honey and stone fruit. Malt sweetness up front with a dank bitter west coast finish. Mouth is medium to full bodied with soft carbonation on the tongue; a little boozy but covered up by the hoppy finish. Am partial to IPA's that have a distinct malt backbone and this fits the bill for me. Very nice 3 Floyds, would seek out again.

Clear golden color. I don’t get any aroma thanks to my stuffed up sinuses. Taste is sweet, a bit syrupy, lots of citrus, a nice malt balance that delivers the sweetness. ABV is pretty obvious to me, but reviews mention it’s hidden well - gives me a bit of acid reflex. Bitterness is citrus rind, that lingers for a long time. It’s a heavy hitter and it’s extremely good, but not for me. Guess I’ve adapted to a more west coast palate since moving to AZ 4 years ago.

Good strong West Coast DIPA!! Poured from a 16 oz can into a pint glass, this beer featured a slightly hazy dark gold color and a big foamy white head with sheets of lacing on the glass. Good head retention. Aroma was mostly stone and citrus fruits and a little resiny pine. Good flavor: some slightly sweet bready malt and fruity hoppiness featuring mostly grapefruit and some sweeter fruit probably pears and orange marmalade. The finish is quite bitter with some piney flavor added. Mouthfeel is rich and bitter, nicely balanced between malt and hoppiness. Alcohol presence not that noticeable for a strong IPA. I had it with a Poke bowl and had enough to sip after I finished eating. Very enjoyable!!

From cans that I found from AJ’s Beer Warehouse in Rochester, NY and the Finger Lakes Beverage Center in Ithaca. Curiously unobtainium from any Supplier in Binghamton NY. IMHO brentk56 nailed Cat Date. Mine have poured crystal clear golden amber into frosted tulips with a full finger collar that fades fairly quickly. I’ve resisted writing about this one because the nose has escaped me. I might call the aroma timid; pineapple syrup and Brent’s suggestion of sugar cookies. Thankfully, although I enjoy a hoppy note in the nose of an Imperial West Coast IPA, I won’t hold it against one (much). The mouthfeel is classic; full bodied, creamy smooth with balanced effervescence that merges well with the tang from the upright hoppy flavors. The pronounced grapefruit orange marmalade taste is what it’s all about. End of story. This ain’t a throwback DIPA it’s the real f$&@ing thing. In retirement now, thinking that I may need to relocate westward to get away from the “north-east” creep.

Short pour at the Circuit. Hazy golden pour, thick, fluffy head. Fruity, hoppy aroma, citrus. Taste is orange and grapefruit, citrus peel, bready malts, creamy feel. Alcohol is slow to seep in, but when it does.. Wham!

Appearance: Pours clear and pale amber colored with a bubble show building to three fingers; excellent retention and a wall of lacing
Smell: Sugar cookie tones buttress the bitter citrus hops; grapefruit and orange marmalade are prominent
Taste: A hint of sugar cookie, up front, with the butter hops taking over smartly; orange marmalade and white grapefruit dominate throughout
Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation
Overall: A nice throwback DIPA but I wouldn’t have expected anything less

Pours an effervescent golden honey color with a pinky of ivory colored head. Insane lacing & great head retention. Stays effervescent throughout the pour
S: Cakey, piney, probably the only flaw on this beer, the nose could be better
Follows the nose, a little mango & green melon, plus leafy hops up front, some grapefruit. Green melon, grapefruit, dryness & a little pine as this beer warms up, a kiss of orange & grapefruit as well. Finishes with grapefruit, a smidge of pineapple, some dryness & green melon
MF: A little chewy, moderate carbonation, nice balance
Great DIPA. Wish this was one I could get all the time, super drinkability for the heft. Probably needs the respect of the ABV too drinkable!

Copper-amber, more deep amber, in color, it arrived in a clear pint glass, drawn from a tap. A little bit hazy, it looks rich. There's a very modest just-off-white head that appears to be enduring. For all its good looks, there's not much aroma, especially for an imperial ale. Maybe some dry hops can be had. But there's plenty to taste, especially the hops. They come complex, with notes of pine, resin and some grapefruit during the drying finish. If you like only IPAs softened to take the hop edge off, don't try this one. It's not playing. Also, there's just enough alcohol bite to add to the flavor and augment the bitterness. All this in a malted medium that holds up to the bite with a wonderfully rich and smooth body. It even contributes to some decent glass lacing. This drinks like an Imperial West Coast IPA, if that makes sense for you, a very good WCIPA at that.
