Showing a softer side to their otherwise unabashedly strong, bitter and boozy portfolio, 3 Floyds offers a beer of finesse.
Strawberrian gets going with a hazy and light mauve pour. Cloudy in its appearance, the frothy beer separates with a creamy white crown and a tantalizing scent of red berry, cream and tanginess. A general grain sweetness is partly of bready malts but also share pastry, light bread and fruit tartlet.
As the grain and cereal sweetness fades, the strawberries become more identifiable as the bright berry character trends lightly tangy with aspects of rhubarb and cranberry lurking behind. Moderately bitter, the late palate shows a semblance of refreshment with a simply dryness and an herbal berry character.
Medium bodied and trending lighter, the persistent grain flavors are somewhat pesky and limit the beer's dryness and refreshment, leaving a lightly tacky flavor and feel of strawberry remnants lingering on the after palate.
