As Gumballhead left the scene of the crime, there was only one thing left to do… Find the imposter masquerading as a Double IPA, and mute that damn saxophone.

Hot damn, how I liked this double IPA...

What surprised me the most was the look - floaties, thin head leading to your standard, juicy IPA scent (hiding the booze inside quite well - which I find a plus). Mouthfeel is a bit more carbonated than I like but it really didn't take away from the overall experience, which I enjoyed immensely...

12 oz can pours a slightly hazy orange/amber with medium but lasting creamy white head that leaves clumps of lacing. Aroma has citrus, pineapple, orange peel and spruce. Taste is initially sweet and fruity before the malts and then the hops kick in, providing many flavors to ponder. The finish is bitter and piney with orange peel in the aftertaste and alcohol well hidden. Body is medium to full with average carbonation. This is another excellent double IPA from Three Floyds which does not assault your tastebuds as aggressively as most of them.

Peachy orange hazy with tons of suspended yeast in the glass. Leaves nice rings of lace on the glass. Smells of orange peel and faintly of dank hops. Tastes a lot like I remember the original bombers of the original Gumball head recipe. Smooth and hoppy with citrus and pine with a nice malt backbone. Smooth and full bodied. Definitely a throwback to the old Three Floyd's beers. Really good.

poured from a 12oz can into a FFF DLD nonic pint glass. an aggressive pour yields a semi-hazy / cloudy golden orange with just a bunch of chunks (snow globe) and three fingers of white foam head that leave some spotty lacing as it disappears leaving a thin white foam cap atop the golden liquid. aromas of citrus and grass
mostly. taste follows. it kind of has the smell and taste of an old beer that has been moved from cold to warm to col climates over and over again. medium-full mouthfeel. kind of creamy finish to it. fun idea / take on gumballhead but floyds is capable of so much better. especially when it comes to DIPAs.

Great brewer's make great beers ... This is one, but not their best offering ....quite tasty, but too sweet for me ... ABV well hidden ... That said, a "miss" from this Brewer is still quite good

Pours a slightly unfiltered orange color with a flotilla of floaties (which I don’t mind) and a fluffy oatmeal colored head that provides significant lacing. Looks great in my glass, even with the floaties, IMHO.

The nose a nice combo pack of candied oranges, some mango, and a bit of pine, and that’s where the taste lands, with the candied oranges most prominent, balanced by the mango and slight bitterness from the pine.

The mouthfeel is medium and drying, on point for this WCDIPA. Glad I got the chance to try this.

Canned 4/10/24; drank 5/19/24 @ the Yarchives.

Cloudy dull dark orange appearance.

A rough pour yielded a huge eggshelll-colored head; a thick curtain of tree-rung lacing remained.

Grapefruit, cane sugar & faint baking soda notes in the nose.

Medium mouthfeel.

Grapefruit & cane sugar flavors up front; soda carbonation & a hint of baking soda on the finish.

I'm not sure anyone needed Gumballhead transformed into a DIPA, and the results haven't changed my mind. Drinakble but not one to seek out.

Canned on: 4-10-24

A - Hazy medium orange gold color with a one finger thick dense creamy head and light carbonation.

S - Tropical fruit and citrus nose with a detectable sweet malt base.

T - Sweet, biscuity malt base with very light tropical fruit over the top along with some pineapple and very light pine in the bitterness. There's a slight bit of alcohol presence but overall very subdued.

M - Big medium body with gentle carbonation.

O - Yep, tastes like many of the Three Floyds D-IPA's with a strong malt backbone and usually subtle to moderate hop presence. Solid and stoked to be able to try this.
