Unsurprisingly stark black to full char yet with a creamy tan head settling to a soft quarter pipe ridge.
While an all time favorite of mine, made more so by the fact that I'm happier than hell to have this year's be one of my first pours at DLD 2025, I feel that the change to Warspite barrels has added extra oomph to the explosivity of this already ridiculous variant.
It both amplifies the already potent levels of cinnamon spice to a new degree--though still as if freshly grated and popping, not into Red Hots--as well as the overall perception of boozy heat. It's velvety heft mitigates and still allows for shockingly high drinkability, but it was a bit more divisive with my group this year relative to past iterations. At the same time, I also think I like this new direction more than the couple of Bourbon Barrel versions they've done.

Having a full bottle at home on New Year's Eve 2025 for a more serious review than at DLD, I'm finding it more mature and balanced than possibly ever before. Perhaps the cinnamon and peppercorn were super fresh on draft, while also their barrels are getting more time under their belt, imparting pleasantly smoothing vanillin and mild char, which seems more perceptible today. The cinnamon is also now softly dusty and savory, not spicy at all, and of course, it's still impressively delicious.
I'm finding my first impression of 4.63 to be a little short at this juncture.
