Cisco Brewers’ Summer Rays was made with three things in mind: the sun, the coast, and laid-back good times. It’s an easy-drinking, refreshing Golden Ale packed with tropical hop aroma containing Galaxy, Azacca, Saaz and Citra hops. At 4.4% ABV, it’s a super sessionable beach companion—deserving of an ice-packed cooler—and was brewed for relaxing with good friends while the sun reflects off the Atlantic Ocean in front of you.

14 oz on tap in a plastic party guy cup at the beer garden near Fenway.
Appearance: Slightly hazy golden/yellow with a short white head that recedes quickly. Spotty lace behind.
Aroma: Some pine and hops along with citrus fruits. Some lemon and maybe grapefruit.
Taste: Follows nose. Also some clementine and stronger citrus. Hops are right there. Grapefruit and lemon, as expected from the aroma.
Mouthfeel: Extremely drinkable. Pretty good punch of flavor for a low ABV beer, too.
Overall: Nice, tasty session ale. Perfect beer for a hot day. Love a beer that provides both flavor and crushability at a low alcohol level. Will make you forget watching the Red Sox blow it a couple blocks over, too.

Branded as golden ale, however if there was such a thing as IPA-lite this would be it. Disappointment from the first sip as hops overpowers all other smells and flavors like so many other IPAs.

Pours a1.5 finger fizzy foamy head with fair retention, streaming bubbles, light lacing, hazy pale to tan color
Nose sweet malt, corn, vanilla, lots of sweet corn and vanilla, light doughy cereal, fruity notes, citrus
Taste light doughy cereal malt, grain, corn, creamy like corn chowder thing, fruity notes with a little citrus, vanilla, light bitterness up front with mild earthy hop, then high spicy hop bitterness on the finish
Mouth is med to lighter bod, touch creamy, high foamy carb
Overall really not sure what this was supposed to be, hops were the only OK thing there, Taste was OK at best, Nose was a bit off

Enjoyed this at the Cisco pop up in Boston's Seaport. A fun little place to enjoy drinks with friends, but once this beer got warm it tasted pretty lousy. Not going to lie, when the beer was served to me, I was very high on it. Nice and cold, smooth and summery, just as most golden ales are. However, being a hot July day, my plastic cup heated up fast and the beer warmed to a gross syrupy slush. Not exactly Cisco's fault, but I have never had a beer make such a huge 180 with the weather.

Av average pour with a slight kick at the end produced a fat finger of frothy white foam that turns rocky with long retention and blotches of lace. Pale straw color, chill hazy at first with a real haze that I can read medium sized print though.
Light smell of herbal and piney hops with biscuit and rising bread dough. Lemony citrus hops in the background with toasted multi-grain bread.
The taste is neutral on sweetness with low bitterness, light but noticeable malt bill per style. A faint twinge of apple and dry grape juice that is neither sweet nor sour breaks in. The finish is Lager-like fast and almost crisp, the faint attempt at sweetness lasts on. The after taste is short and mellow.
Light bodied, abundant carbonation softens the feel. Very smooth, balanced and session-able. Alcohol is almost undetectable. Overall very on point to style, nothing unusual to report.
