I have had this a few times, but have not seen in a while. This is good.

Poured into a snifter after picking up the 2015 edition at the brewery a few weeks prior. An interesting deep orange-golden color that is completely opaque, relatively small head that dissipates rather quickly and almost entirely disappears after about 5 minutes. Throughout this review you'll hear this a lot...I was very surprised by how apparent the alcohol was is almost every aspect of this beer experience.
The 2015 edition of this brew is advertised as being 8.8 ABV, even still I was taken aback by the taste and mouthfeel. The smell is somewhat fruity, mixed with some pine that is slightly overshadowed by the smell of alcohol. Same with the taste. the mouthfeel is one that is dominated by malt rather than hops. Again, during the aftertaste the alcohol is ever so in your face. I've had many DIPA at this ABV and beyond, I never experienced such a lingering unpleasant mouthfeel. I'd like to think that somehow I got a bad batch or this is an older bottle but there is no date so I can't be sure.
Trying to put the lingering mouthfeel aside, having a DIPA which is very malty rather than hoppy is an interesting experience.

From tasting notes. Appearance: Smell: light grain nose, bread, grass, resin, faint citrus.Taste: Full on creamy fruit, orange, plum, some citrus rind. Well developed herbal flavors from the hops engage in interesting interactions with the fruity esters over a background of light grains. Mouthfeel: Very creamy, luscious texture with very fine soft carbonation. Medium body to a little above. Overall: A very drinkable and enjoyable DIPA.They need to bring this out of retirement.

A: slight haze; gold colored; 1 finger white head that recede quickly to a thin collar; nice lacing;
S: a lot of fruit and a little pine;
T: very juicy - orange and grapefruit are most prevalent; grapefruit build as you near the finish; well balanced - the malt sweetness is readily apparent; almost no bitterness;
M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation;
O: very complex flavors;
