British Crystal and Chocolate malts give this ale a medium body and rich, sweet aroma. Mount Hood hops add a spicy and floral nose. This smooth, malty brew was a Gold Medal
winner in the American Brown Ale category at the 1998 Great American Beer Festival.

On tap at BRG in Chattanooga; revisited at same location in November 2016.
.
Dark but very clear amber-brown body with copper-orange highlights at the edges. Semi-durable tan head and a little lacing.
Fine aroma with toffee and brown bread.
Flavor: very lightly sweet; caramel and medium roast malts with faint hops.
The body is smooth and near medium.
O: solid and unflawed version of style.

Pours a meduim-deep brown with a light tan head that melts away quickly, leaving only a ring around the outside; no lacing. The aroma is mild malt sweetness, not much else. The taste is also malty but adds a little bit of nuttiness and earthy hops. It's not a huge nut brown flavor, but it is good. The body is lighter and mostly smooth, with just a hint of carbonation.
