A - Deep Mahogany body, undetectable carbonation in the restaurant's lighting. Thin head due to the method of pouring I assume.

S - Sweet malts, slight pine hops, and a balanced cream with the maltiness.

T - Semi-creamy sweet molasses and a subtle piney hops. A hint of spices. A fairly hoppy porter.

M - Medium bodied porter leaves the pine hops on the palate after clearing the throat.

D - I thoroughly enjoyed this paired with Big River's Southwestern Egg Rolls and a sweet chili sauce. Highly recommended while it is available. I wonder if they bottle this? It would make a great beer-gift.

Draught in Chattanooga: This one pours a dark opaque brown. There was a fair amount of a tan head on it, although it didn’t leave much lacing. The aroma was OK. It was mainly roasty coffee with some chocolate notes. It is a medium bodied brew. The flavor mainly roasted coffee notes. Some dryness and earthiness also. Neither sweet nor bitter. A decent porter.

This is a porter? The color is moderate golden. Something is wrong with the color on this one. No head and no lacing on the glass. The aroma has a caramel malt with hints of chocolate. The flavor was interesting. Caramel malts, chocolate, and lots of ginger. The body was almost right on this one. Most of the brews from Big River are really thin, but this one is just slightly thin, despite the color. Finish is slightly bitter, but subdued. Not a bad beer, but still not as enjoyable as their Stout.
