22oz bottled on 2/18/2015 (batch 04/1379), so pretty well aged at this point I guess. The bottle opens with a near explosion and forms an enormous amount of chestnut tan head atop a healthy brown body. And within seconds the air is filled with the smell of whisky -- very nice. Oh, but then I take the first sip, and my lips immediate pucker. This is a sour -- oh right, a wild ale. There are strong Wild Ales that I've really enjoyed -- for example, early samples of CBC's Benevolence. But at 9.4% and funky as gehenna this beer is going to be hard to finish -- and hard to rate fairly. And I've failed to mention that aggressive carbonation from bottling restricts rate of consumption even further. I really do love the aroma of American rye and bourbon. Too bad I don't like sours.

I hope that the one I had was very old or something. Purchased it on "clearance sale" and I had to pour it out after 2 drinks...

THis is one hell of a beer.
Nose is meh but the flavour's incredible. A mix of barrel booze and bacterial soury greatness.
so glad i held onto this for 2 years.
