Shmaltz Funky Jewbelation 2017 has an almost black body that has red edges when held up to the light. A generous 2-finger thick and foamy tan head was formed. The head held well and formed sticky lacing on the walls of my tulip glass. The nose was sour, of dark fruit/dark malt with notes of chocolate and cherry. Taste starts with dark malts/fruit flavors of raisin, cherry and chocolate also noted. I did not notice any bourbon flavor from the barrels. The ale finishes dry and tart/sour that lingers on the palate. Mouth feel is medium-full.
If you like Sours you will like Funky Jewbelation - not my style as the flavor is too sour for me to drink more than one.

On tap. Brown color. Interesting. Starts off with a pretty big dollop of sourness. After that, the base of the beer sets in. Sweet, thicker maltiness. Boozy. A mixture of wild and sweet.
