Just opened (a 22 oz. bomber) it after finding it in the back reaches of the beer cellar..... Did we wait too long????? We let is sit on the counter for a while after bringing it back up to refrigerator temperature. Recall having this for the first time on tap and thinking we can't drive after drinking this, but it's so-o-o-o-o-o-o good now. On to the review: Look: it looks like it should - a very dark beer with no hint of daylight, reminding me of Black Note or Dark Lord. Smell: a bit thin on this. Did the aging lose some smell? You can barely tell there is a smell/flavor anymore. Or am I just not sensitive enough for that? Taste: yummy malt, roasty flavor, some molasses, not bitte, no hop flavor, no boozy taste after all these years (when did we purchase this????). Very smooth/mellow, a sweetness in there, too. Minimal head - I was concerned about flatness after all these years but that was not an issue here. Feel: nothing special. Another roasty beer, nothing standing out here, love it going down, so that is my "feel". Overall, just glad I saw this and we enjoyed it!

From tasting notes. I picked up a few of these intending to age them, knowing that time would round out some of the big malty alcoholic hop flavors and pull them into something smoother. I couldn’t wait. It pours brilliant dark brown, producing a 1” frothy, tan foam collar that grips the side of the glass as it goes down. Bread, alcohol, nd dark dried fruit aromas rise for the glass. The palate throws a few elbows with big rich malt, alcohol, alcohol warming, dark dried fruit, bodacious hops and some definite wine like qualities. Its chewy, creamy, soft and rich.
