Located under the Mellow Mushroom, this newly opened pub looks as if it has been there for decades, giving it a more homey, relaxed feel. Friendly if somewhat inefficient wait staff. Good salad. 4 house beers on tap reflect both traditional (porter) and innovative (a beet jasmine Citra IPA) styles.
Revisited on late 2019 when I was less happy with their beers. 8 of 9 taps were functional.

The Velo Fellow takes its name from the rider of one of those old two wheel bicycles with the great big front wheel and the little bitty back wheel and bills itself as an old time Publik House. The place is small and the atmosphere is very casual and comfortable with furniture made from wood recovered from old houses, barns and churches. They have maybe one or two small TV sets and have small bands in for live music once in a while and there is one of those 10 or 12 foot shuffleboard games along one wall but the major attraction is simply hanging out with friends to enjoy food, drink and conversation.

The tap selection is limited but the selection always has a beer or two that satisfies my needs. At least one good local IPA from Thomas Creek or RJ Rockers, a German wheat beer, Allagash Black and several others. Good bottle selection for the Greenville area but the crowds favorites seem to be Full Sail Session and Session Black. Mixed drinks and wine are also available.

As a Publik House the menu tends toward English style pub food with pot pies and fish and chips. These is also an excellent lamb burger and I hear that the hamburgers are excellent as well. Several good appetizers are also on the menu including that old southern favorite, pimento cheese. We have always enjoyed good service and the wait staff certainly knows about beer.

This is certainly not the best beer selection in Greenville, Barley's easily claims that title. But when we want a quiet place with friends that is much more comfortable than the bigger places in town, Velo Fellow is always our pick.
