From the bottle, it pours a golden color with a nice head that, alas, quickly dissipates. Malty to the mouth and nose, I found it pleasant to drink and enjoyable.

2017 Update: 2015 bottle WELL beyond it's best by date (May 2016) is still just about the same!

Alpirsbacher Klosterbräu "Weihnachtsbier"
,5L brown glass bottle coded "Mindestens haltbar bis: 08.06.2020 L2811901 14:58".
3,80€ @ Il Birratrovo, Como, IT on 03.12.2019

Notes: Clear dark golden body beneath a full head of white foam. Very good head retention and lacing. Aroma of sweetish, grainy and bready malt with some floral and herbal hops in the background. In the taste the malt shows itself to be a touch nutty and caramelish as well as sweetish and bready. The hops remains subtle, and a median bitterness balances it bringing it to a maily dry finish. Medium bodied and gently crisp with a standard carbonation level. It's quite enjoyable but I'm rather surprised that this straightforward lager of just 5.6% ABV has been put forth as a Weihnachtsbier.

Tasty, but not really special. Not the Christmas beer I was expecting.

appearance: Orange yellow color not especially, not a strong head

smell: A bit fruity and spicy a nice holiday flavor

taste: A bit bitter and not as appealing as one would want

mouthfeel: Somewhat weak but frankly it is kind of nice and the spices stay

overall: Not as fantastic as I would like but none the less a fair holiday brew but it could be the reason it was on the cheap shelf

Appearance: A bright gold body with a lot of white carbonation bubbles. The head is thin but foamy and there is a lot of lace at first but it dies down very quick.

Smell: The aroma is grassy with some fruity tone.

Taste: I felt that the beer had more of a regular bock like flavor than a Marzen as it is being labeled here.
.

Mouthfeel: Full and a bit sticky.

Overall: Very different than what you might be used to in a Holiday beer.

The appearance of this brew is ho, hum. It has an alright head presentation, which is snow white, with decent lacing. The body is clear and gold in color.

Aroma is herbal and lemony, with a faint hint of tobacco.

The taste is spot on with lemony hops, some grainy huskiness.

Though this beer is a bit heavier at 5.6 ABV, it's actually pretty crisp, clean, and quite refreshing.

The stronger version of the SPEZIAL, brewed only from Nov to Dec each year. As good as the spezial. My favourite in the southwest of Germany. Pleasant bitternes, lots of mouthfulness. No undesired "side effects" on "the day after"! Cheers

BB 19-06-06. Nice white head and nice amber beercollor. Nose is sweetish malty, green and good and sharp spice, maybe of litle roast. Taste is also a taste explosion for a plager as this one is rich and full in taste and goes slowly and nicely into a well dosed bitterness. In aftertaste also alcohol noticable but though quiet high for a lagertype well hidden. Whole brew is well balanced and just a pleasure to drink. Wish I bought more but who knows that I'll get another chance this year.
