A - beautiful golden, crystal clear, delicate white head, leaves a sheet of lace down the glass.

S - floral hoppy bouquet, much like a pilsner

T - big sweet pilsner malt, but well attenuated and balanced throughout by floral hops. Has that refined taste that I've only come across in authentic German beers, typically decocted.

M - despite the sweetness, the finish is very crisp and with drying alcohol. Body is relatively light, carbonation gives it some spritz, but is not overdone.

D - lots of interesting flavours, my brain is having trouble sorting them out, definitely an experience.

Can't say I've ever tasted a German made Maibock. To me, it tastes like a North American Maibock combined with the hopping of a pilsner, and then it's got that special touch that tells you this is direct from the source. Fantastic stuff! No wonder the Germans don't bother messing with things, they've already perfected it.

Thanks to Mattt for the bottle!

Pours a lightly golden yellow, lots of carbonation, big foamy head and delicate lacing.

Aroma of continental malt and a solid malt backbone, very clean, no esters or phenols to be detected. Flavor of rich round melanoidins from the malt and a very balanced hop bitterness that just barely makes it throu the malt.

After a while you get a nice harming feeling inside from the alcohol witch is just slightly perceivable on the tongue. Amazing stuff!

I miss Germany already!

Served in a glass mug:

A: Pale amber, almost yellow. Next to no head, doesn't leave any lacing - I think I see a little cloudiness but that could just be the lighting in here.

S: Warm malty smell, hints of graham crackers

T: It's hard to believe that there isn't some kind of added flavoring to this beer - the taste is surpisingly big and complex, with bittersweet malts and notes of caramel taking the center stage. There's also a generous dose of hops at the end - a lot to concentrate on here. The alcohol content is hard to detect.

M: Just a little thicker than water or soda, not overly carbonated.

O: This is really impressive - wonderfully complex flavor, nothing really challenging. Definitely among my favorites from Germany.

50cl bottle poured into my Spaten seidel

A- Pale lager blonde with excellent clarity. Lacing and head retention are average for the style

S- Peppery nose, hints of vanilla and some belgian-like candy yeastiness.

T- Rich malt dominating. Peppery throughout with a clean lager finish. Vanilla note lingers with a hint of spiciness.

M- Moderate carbonation and body.

D- Excellent flavour profile. More character than any other helles bock i have had. Easy drinking goodness.

Appearance: Honey-gold; clear; medium head, long-lasting

Aroma: Malty; slight alcohol aroma; light hops; grassy and slight honey

Taste: Juicy malt which quickly goes to a nice alchohol flavor with moderate hoppiness; hints of candy; well balanced and tasty with semi-sweet finish

Remarks: Did not score A, T, S, M at that time; disregard those scores

Bright corn yellow with loose white froth that disappears in a flash. Grassy noble spice and thick honey on the nose.
Country white loaf and lemon marmalade with light toffee then a big hit of noble cut hay.
Golden raisin and coriander seed finish and tightening peppery linger. Dry, crisp, round, verging on medium, a bit of oil.

Not much to look at, but a solid strong lager with a hefty dose of hops. Clean and balanced, deftly hides the ABV and never cloys in spite of generous malts. Coming to respect this brewery and their free hand with hops.

Color: pure gold. Head starts white and bubbly, then settles to a thin layer. Smells full of sweet roasted malt, slightly toasty, maybe some booze.

Immediate rush of sweet malt on first drink (and all subsequent drinks, for that matter). Very flavorful in that regard, and if it wasn't so well done I would complain of its one-sidedness. Finishes a little bitter, a good contrast to the sweetness, and a little dry.

This beer gets high marks here. I mostly agree, but I'm not blown away. Perhaps it's simply not my favorite style. If I saw it again I'd grab one, And wash down a schnitzel with it.
