On tap.

Pours a cloudy straw color with a thick foamy head with great retention and lacing. Nose is herbal and floral hops and lots of fruity yeast esters. It's almost Belgian in some of its fruit aromas. Flavor is quite nice - it's a nice complex mixture of yeasty bread, fruity esters and herbal hops. Finish is mildly bitter. Body is medium with nice carbonation. Overall, a very nice beer.

Bought this at Bierland in the Seumestrasse in Hamburg on my Easter vacation. Nice people there, pay them a vsit if in Hamburg as they are one of the few specialty beer entrepreneurs in Hamburg. Poured into a Mayr's Seidl mug.

Body is very murky and straw yellow with a white head of two fingers that is quite stable and leaves a lacing. Bubbles of different sizes rise to the top.

smell is of hops and banana maybe bread.

starts out with a hint of sweet, then some astringency and a slightly bitter finish

quite smooth, light on the tongue, some tickling carbonation

overall an interesting Zwickl as it contains wheat which gives it a typical Weizen texture that goes well with the richer Zwickl body. Feel and looks are extraordinary but taste is not, neverrtheless worth a try.

Tawny blonde with lumpy white fur and a slight cloudiness. Nose is sweet earthy yeast funk.
Unfiltered honey and wood up front, a fruity yeast hit - bananas and stewed pears - then coriander leaf and cardamom spice hops.
Bready finish and tingling linger. Smooth, medium, crisp, soft.

Deep, round, fruity and silky. Who knew this much character could come from lager. None of the cellar funk I've had from other examples of the style. Satisfying.

Dirty blonde color with the expected cloudiness. Head starts billowy and white, then settles into a fine lace.

Smells primarily yeasty, no other notable odors really. Taste is quite smooth, with just the right amount of fine carbonation to both let the liquid settle on the tongue and float a bit in the mouth. Very light roasted malt supports more mild yeast body, slight esters, and some grassy flavors. Finish is smooth, sweet, and reveals this beer was indeed made with some flavoring and bittering hops.

This is quite an enjoyable beer, well rounded, and very drinkable. Worth getting two, just in case you get thirsty. Would go excellent fish and chips.

In terms of looks, this is a classic naturtrüb - a dark straw colour with a very cloudy texture and a big thick white head. Yet because it's brewed with a combination of barley and wheat, its flavour is different to some of the other unfiltered German brews I've tried. It's got a really fresh aroma and tastes like a more bitter, more balanced version of a typical Bavarian Hefeweizen (Erdinger of Paulaner say). The wheat gives it a pleasant sweetness that's quickly followed by a more bitter hoppy tang and a nice mellow aftertaste. It's a very smooth, balanced, drinkable beer and one that I'll be keeping an eye for in the future.

Bought a 16.9oz bottle last summer from the brewery shop while visiting Germany for the World Cup. I finally got around to drinking it over the weekend. The beer has held up very well though the yeast had settled and the beer poured clear until I gave it a good swirl. It had a great hop/yeasty aroma. The taste was still fresh with a good malt flavor to go along with a nice hoppiness. The finish lingered nicely. Definately a beer I would love to drink again. Too bad its availability is so limited.
