Schlenkerla Smokebeer Wheat is an ale with light smoky aroma. As Bavarian wheat beers, it is being brewed with a mixture of both barley malt and wheat malt. The portion of barley malt is hereby a classic Schlenkerla smokemalt, while the wheat malt remains unsmoked. Served unfiltered with its natural haziness, Schlenkerla Wheat reaches its full aroma through bottle fermentation with fine top fermenting yeast.

I love beers from this brewery! Wonderfully smokey, spicy and flavorful. Beautiful dark brown with great head and lacing. Pleasant smokey smell! Goes great with food. A comforting beer!

Big malty notes on this one. Notes of gunpowder and leather. Strong and brown. It’s delicious. Slightly unpolished but still fantastic. You would think it has more alcohol than it does.

Single 500 ml bottle from brewpub in Bamberg - best by April 2026.
Pours a slightly cloudy reddish brown/mahogany colour with two plus fingers of puffy, creamy tan head.
Aroma is from the outset smoky - campfire, some meatiness with notes of dark fruits, a bit of banana, spice and caramel. A bit of leather treated with dubbin.
Sweet and smoky on the palate - wheat malt, date, dark fruit esters, caramel, and again a bit of meatiness with some woody notes.
Deliciously creamy medium pushing to full mouthfeel, wheat malt softness with a wonderfully smooth finish - satisfying and, surprisingly may even be better than their Marzen.

Copenhagen 2/7 2020. 50 cl bottle from Kvickly Allerød. Usual label design from Heller's Rauchbier brand with gothic letters on pergament paper. Green borders.
Pours murky dark brown with a big, stable, fluffy white head. Settles as 1,5 cm thick layer of frothy foam covering the surface of the beer. Crawling up the sides of the glass. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is intense with a strong smoked malty odor and lighter lemonade-ish, fruity smell peeking in. Peat, salty licorice with hints of ashtray. Oranges and citrus.
Medium strong carbonation. Slightly thick, smooth, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a moderately strong bitterness. A bit of saltiness. Aftertaste is sweet with a lemonade-wish twist. Lingers for a while.
The smoke is a nice fit for the Weizen which lights it up a bit.

Pours clear, dark amber with two inches of tan head. Plenty of ropey lacing and minimal retention. Smoked meats over a campfire in the nose. Medium bodied with a soft mouthfeel. Smokey malt with a faint fruitiness on the palate. Finishes smokey and malty.

Pours a hazy rust colour, with a significant foamy buff head. A big hit of smoke on the tongue, like smoked cheese or bacon. After that, some copperiness, and some yeasty banana. On the tongue, more of the same, savoury smoke and some copper, sour plum, finishes with lingering smoke. Not overly sticky - fairly neutral in feel, with a long sweet finish.

Dark amber, hazy, thick tan head with good retention. Smoke character is muted compared to their Marzen, but present. Some of the wheat notes are hidden by the smokiness. Medium strong body for a wheat beer. Low bitterness, medium carb level. Finishes with lingering malt presence.
