500 ml bottle, from Vaaland 1889, Bryne. ABV is less than 1.2%. Golden brown colour, large white head. Moderate aroma of smoked malts. Thin mouthfeel as expected, but not bad for a low ABV beer. Dry flavour of smoked malts, hints of smoked meat. Moderate hops.

Tasted on a recent trip to Germany. From the half liter bottle, it pours a hazy amber color with a big white head - lots of carbonation in this one! The nose gets a light scent of grain, smoke and some bacon. Taste is also light, with the smoke coming through.

-medium carbonation visible
S:
-bready,smoke,bacon,light citrus,grainy
T:
-spicy,smoky,grainy,charcoal,plastic

O:
Really suffers from the lack of malt presence. The smoke is much less integrated than in it's higher ABV Brothers.
The whole thing feels tough.

Pours a slightly cloudy, brown'ish, deep, dark amber coloration with a large, fluffy, lasting head. Smells of grainy, smoked malt, with a certain fried bacon note. Taste is a decent balance of grainy, smoked malt and bitter, somewhat herbal, chalky hops, with a rather light smokiness somewhat reminiscent of fried bacon. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some bitter, chalky hops and mild smoke lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a light/medium body and medium carbonation.
While this leaves a good initial impression, with a rather nice appearance and good aroma, it really falls apart at the first sip. I mean, I suppose it's not half bad for 1.2% ABV, which I tried to rate this as, but then again why bother when their Lager still comes at a relatively low ABV and is much superior to this? It just completely lacks an even halfway decent malt presence, being dominated by rather bitter, chalky and somewhat herbal hops, with a rather mild smokiness, although it does manage a rather impressive body and mouthfeel for the ABV.
