Aka Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier "Pale Edition"
Bamberg’s specialty as pale special edition. The classic smoked beer with a difference: for the pale Märzen, we produce a lighter smoked malt in the Schlenkerla malthouse, which ensures a bright, rich amber color. The pale Märzen matures for months in historic rock cellars and is bottled unfiltered for a particularly full-bodied taste.

A very special smoked beer. The smoke is there, it's always there, and gets stronger deep into the bottle. That last part of the bottle yields a kaleidoscope of malt and smoke flavours. Slightly better than average mouthfeel and very smooth.

Bottle: Poured a clear amber color marzen with a large off-white foamy head with good retention and a good amount of lacing. Aroma of smoked malt with some caramel malt notes. Taste is a mix between oily caramel malt notes with faint residual sugar notes and strong smoked notes typical of the brewery. Body is average for style with good carbonation. Super easy drinking smoked beer with great flavours.

This one pours a dark orange-ish amber color, with a small head, and lots of lacing. It’s considered the pale rauchbier edition, but it’s honestly not that much paler than the regular marzen.
This smells like smokey and woodsy tones, caramel, rye spice, applewood, and chocolate.
This is definitely a little less intensely smoky than the regular marzen, but it still delivers those sort of classic applewood and campfire tones that I crave in Schlenkerla beers.
This is lighter bodied, even slightly creamy, with a really nice drinkability.
I love that this super old fashioned brewery is still finding ways to come up with new unique takes on this esoteric style.

O:
Not as much depth as the classic "Märzen", closer to the "Kräusen" in Flavour Profile, but still a very good Schlenkerla in typical High Quality.
