When I told my friend who used to live in Hoboken that I was going to Texas Arizona she said, "that's a douchebag bar!".
Afraid I was on the long-ass ride to the other side... and then I get there and there's a bouncer asking for my ID and frat boys smoking outside. Ouch.
But fear not- this place is alright. Sure, there are enough college dudes and loud platinum-blonde chicks here around to sufficiently represent New Jersey, but there is also a nice little bar in the back that is quieter and has got all the craft brewskies you need.
The whole place is gigantic (at least by Manhattan standards), so even though it was fairly crowded, it never felt crazy.
Beer-wise, there are 22 boring taps upfront in the main bar where folks drink Stella and Bud Light (and a Magic Hat here and there), plus 12 quality handles in the back bar.
Lots of good Jersey brews! Flying Fish Exit 8, Kane Head High and Galaxy Head High, Rammstein, Carton Boat, River Horse, NJ Beer Co. We Heavy... plus Abita and Chimay. Nice!
The burly, biker-like bartender (Rafael) is the best. He took the time to explain all the Jersey beers to me and also gave me samples. Such a nice guy.
I would gladly come back here, if it were in Manhattan!

This place is located directly across from the PATH and NJ Transit stations which make it a convenient place to grab a beer and food when returning from NYC or the train. Since NJ Transit is the easiest way to commute back and forth to the Meadowlands, it is also a great place to grab some food and beers before or after Jets/Giants games.
The place is almost divided into two halves, the front of the restaurant/bar has most of the macro brews that you would expect while the back bar is exclusively craft beers. I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered the selection at the back bar - about 12 taps of craft beers and a fairly large selection of bottles (prices were in line with other area bars).
The menu is typical bar type food but the execution is very nice (including the guacamole made in the mortar and pestal). I tried a couple of the appetizers and the burgers which were good for a bar.
It should be noted for folks that during the NFL season this is a Pittsburgh Steelers bar.

Located right off of the Hoboken PATH which is quite convenient after a long day of work in NYC. Recently they did minor renovation and added 12 dedicated tap lines for craft beer at the back bar. Already they had some decent beers but now this is much more of a destination for me as a beer geek. 250 bottles beers as well but they aren't anything too special. While I was there I had the Firestone Walker DIPA and the Ramstein Maibock. Nice open bar atmosphere which plenty of space and optional outdoor seating. The service was miserable but that is true for about 80% bars and restaurants in the area. They messed up my order as well not putting the avocado on my turkey/avocado wrap and gave me the wrong dressing for my salad, but the food was good once it finally arrived correctly. Overall I recommend getting take-out and having a beer while waiting afterwork/on the way home (if you live in Hoboken). Glad more places like this and 1Repuplik have above average craft beer selections in an area that usually cares more about Martini specials than good beers.
